About this Trail

Built and maintained through joint effort on the part of the local Rotary Club and the Town of Golden, this double-wide pathway circumnavigates the south half of town. The pathway is widely used by pedestrians, dog walkers, and bike commuters. The most visible section of this trail runs along the south side of the Kicking Horse River passing the timber frame pedestrian bridge and continuing upstream to the Municipal Campground. However, the trail does continue on either side of these points to form a loop.As of 2017 the trail is more family friendly and compatible to pulling a bike trailer (eg Chariot) through the entire loop. This was done by extending the switchbacks behind the Municipal Campground. Note: you still need to negotiate the moderately steep section which overlooks Reflection Lake and the rodeo grounds. Therefore, follow the trail in a clockwise direction if pulling a chariot – that way you can coast down that section. From a mountain biking perspective the Rotary Trail can be used to access several jumping-off points to the main trail systems. You can use it to reach the trails of Mtn Shadows, Mt 7, or it will even send you off in the direction of the CBT Mainline trail network.Note: The southern portion of the Rotary Trail leaves the pathway in the area of 13th St and is hard to follow if trying to complete the full loop. Have a good look at the map to aid in navigating this section.
