Kimberley

Kimberley sits at the southern end of the Rocky Mountain Trench and is home to a well-developed trail network managed by the Kimberley Trails Society, which has been building and protecting trails since 2009. A trail pass system funds a dedicated trail crew, resulting in consistently high-quality riding conditions. The network covers terrain for all abilities, from cross-country loops to technical descents, with a strong family-friendly component. The Kimberley Bike Park offers progressive skills features for riders developing their technique. The town has a compact, walkable feel with good access to local bike shops.

TrailRipper's Take

Kimberley is one of our favourites — the kind of place that doesn't always make the highlight reels but consistently delivers a great day on the bike. The KTS does excellent work keeping the trails in shape. The Bike Park is worth a stop if you're riding with newer family members; it has good progression from pump track up to more challenging features. Bootleg Bike Co. is the go-to if you need anything.

Plus: The Kimberley Aquatic Centre for rainy days!

Where to start

Kimberley has two clear starting zones depending on your kid's level: the Nordic Centre (Happy Hans Loop, flat and forgiving) for young or new riders, and Bootleg Mountain once they're ready for actual singletrack. The Kimberley Bike Park is free and has the most features of any skills park in the region.
